Visitors: Alan Green
First Selectwoman Gorski called the special meeting of the
Board of Selectmen to order at 4:35 p.m.
The meeting was held in the Selectmen’s Conference Room of the Bethany
Town Hall.
AWARD PAVING BID
Alan Green was present to discuss with the Selectmen the
bids submitted for paving for fiscal year 2016-2017. The bids were received from the following:
Sal-War Incorporated
21 Lawrence Street
Woodbridge, CT
06525
Costello Industries, Inc
123 Costello Road
Newington, CT
06111
S & S Asphalt Paving, Inc
P. O. Box 429
Southbury, CT
06488
Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming Inc.
22 Peters Road
Bloomfield, CT
06002
Laydon Industries, LLC
51 Longhini Lane
New Haven, Ct
06519
In reviewing the bids only two of the companies qualified
for consideration. The Sal-War
Incorporated and S & S Asphalt Paving. Both companies had comparable bids,
however Alan recommended S & S Asphalt Paving, Inc. as they did both paving
and milling. Sal-War would do the
paving, but would have to sub-contract the milling process to someone
else. Following discussion Selectman
Shea moved to accept the bid of S & S Asphalt Paving for the fiscal year
2016-17. Selectman Hurlburt seconded the
motion. The vote taken was unanimous.
WAIVE RENTAL
FEE FOR COMMUNITY KICK OFF FOR HOMES FOR HEROS
The Homes for Hero’s have requested possible use if
available of either the Town Hall Gym or the Lakeview Lodge on August 13, 2016 for
a kick-off celebration for the organization.
They are in the process of building a new home on Mesa Drive for a
disabled soldier. Selectman Hurlburt
moved a motion to waive the rental fee for use of the Town Hall or Lakeview
Lodge if they are available for the celebration. Selectman Shea seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
ADJOURNMENT
Adjournment was called at 4:45 p.m. after a motion was
moved by Selectman Shea and seconded by Selectman Hurlburt. The vote taken was unanimous.
Respectfully
submitted,
June
G. Riley
