Bethany Conservation Commission

May 9, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 8:06 by Bruce Loomis. Also in attendance were Cathy Rives and Lisa Tavolacci.

The minutes of the January meeting were reviewed. The Executive Session on January 10 was to discuss land issues. With this amendment, Bruce moved to accept the minutes, Lisa seconded and the minutes passed unanimously.

The minutes of the April meeting were reviewed. No corrections were necessary. Lisa moved to accept, Cathy seconded and the minutes passed unanimously.

Bruce shared correspondence from Bethany Community School. They requested money for the Conservationist Award. Lisa moved to fund the award ($60 total), Bruce seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

There were no minutes to review from other commissions.

There was a brief discussion about the Green Haven Proposal. Based on the overwhelming popular feeling of the town's population, the proposal was turned down, contrary to this commission's recommendation.

The committee went into executive session at 8:15 to discuss Conservationist of the Year. The session closed at 8:18.

The need for more members for this commission was reiterated. Technically, one more member is needed, but effectively, we could use two more members.

At 8:25 Bruce moved to adjourn the meeting, Lisa seconded and the motion passed.

Respectfully submitted,

Cathy Rives, Secretary pro-tempore
