First Selectwoman Gorski called the meeting of the Board of Selectmen to order at 7:30 pm.  The meeting was held in the Selectmen’s Conference Room of the Bethany Town Hall.   Check signing was the first order of business.   First Selectwoman Gorski asked all present to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

First Selectwoman Gorski asked the Selectmen if they would object to moving Waive the Bid Process for Police Radios as the first order of business.  There was no objection to this.

WAIVE BIDDING PROCESS FOR POLICE RADIOS

David Merriam was present to speak with the Selectmen regarding the quotations he had received from Motorola for portable radio replacement.  The Connecticut State Police has notified David Merriam that they will no longer be supporting the present system of radios they are presently using after December 2014.  Motorola has made an offer to replace the radios with the model 2.5 portable which can be set up to be compatible with the new frequency.  If the purchase is made before the end of May the savings would be $2,000 under the State of Connecticut Master Contract for the two portables and power mobile unit needed.  To meet this deadline Trooper Merriam is asking that the bidding process be waived since the units would be purchased through the State of Connecticut.  This system can be programmed for inter-operational abilities between surrounding towns for a large emergency.  The Bethany Board of Finance had met at 6:30 pm today to approve the expenditure from the Special Revenue Police Account.  Following discussion Selectwoman Magda moved a motion to waive the bidding process for the police radios since they are being purchased under the State of Connecticut bidding process.  Selectman Shea seconded the motion.  The vote taken was unanimous.

TAX REFUNDS

Selectman Shea moved to refund to Anthony J. Falcone Trustee the sum of $38.63, to Michael J. Boyarsky the sum of $132.81 and to Tudor Estates, LLC the sum of $45.19 all for overpayment of taxes.  The vote taken was unanimous.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

First Selectwoman Gorski called for a motion of approval for the minutes of the meeting of May 12, 2014.  The motion was moved by Selectman Shea and seconded by Selectwoman Magda.  There were no changes to the minutes.  The minutes were then approved on a unanimous vote.
